Custom Wedding Embroidery in Brighton & Sussex: 11 Personalised Ideas to Make Your Day Unique

Wedding Embroidery Near Brighton & Sussex

Planning your wedding in Brighton, Hove, or Sussex? Custom wedding embroidery in Brighton is a beautiful way to make your day unique. From embroidered bridesmaid pyjamas to handfasting ribbons, all stitched in my Hove studio, these details add romance and meaning.

At StephieAnn, I create wedding embroidery for local couples and by post for celebrations across the UK — from thoughtful keepsakes to personalised décor you’ll treasure forever.

Here are 11 of my favourite ways to use embroidery to make your wedding personal, heartfelt, and utterly unique — with real examples from past projects.

11 Wedding Embroidery Ideas

1. Monogrammed Pyjamas for the Bridal Party

Brides often bring me in pyjamas to add monogrammed initials, dates, names to the pocket, or shorts. Perfect for getting-ready photos and a gift they’ll actually use. You can purchase StephieAnn pyjamas, or bring me something to the Hove studio.

2. Keepsake Fabric Inside the Bridal Dress

Often, customers ask me to stitch a square of fabric to be sewn into the bride’s dress for their something old and something blue. The fabric above was taken from the bride’s muslin when she was a baby.

3. Handfasting Ceremony Ribbon

This bride and groom commissioned a special ribbon for their traditional Irish ceremony. I designed it from scratch, using elements from their family crest. The idea was for the ribbon to be passed down through generations, wrapping their hands during the vows. Wedding photography by Adam and Grace for Jasmin and Chris.

4. Personalised Handkerchiefs

For their happy tears! It’s lovely to embroider handkerchiefs for the Father of the Bride with messages, either in fonts or the brides own hand writing. Sometimes customers drop in hankies to the shop, or send them directly to me. The hankie below was monogrammed with the Mother of the Bride’s initial, C.

5. Groom’s Shirt Cuff Embroidery

Hidden messages on the groom’s shirt cuff make for a gorgeous surprise at the altar. This groom had his fiancés initials and their wedding date on his.

6. Embroidered Linen Napkins

Embroidered wedding napkins make great keepsake gifts for guests and look fantastic on tablescapes. The napkins above are StephieAnn custom napkins, alongside napkins that were a gift after the wedding with an illustration of the venue. We have fantastic napkins at StephieAnn that are embroidered with your handwriting.

7. Wedding Tie Monogram

Wedding ties can be embroidered with secret messages or the couple’s initials on the front. I used embroidery to add this hidden message from the bride on the back.

8. Wedding Favours with Embroidery

Lavender bags embroidered with guest’s name can double as place cards! The blue bags below were created for a special wedding using the bride and groom’s custom monogrammed initials. I used fabric I had available at the studio to embroider, make and fill them with lavender.

9. Ring Pillow

A custom stitched pillow for the rings, personalised with your names or wedding date — perfect for passing down as a keepsake.

10. Bouquet Ribbon Embroidery

Another great idea is to wrap your bouquet stems in a ribbon embroidered with your initials, wedding date, or a meaningful quote — a subtle detail that looks stunning in photos.

11. Embroidered Veil

Delicate stitching of initials or a wedding date along the edge of a tulle veil for a barely-there romantic touch.

What to Consider Before You Embroider

  • Hand or Machine Embroidered – Stephie specialises in both hand and machine embroidery and we can chat about which technique suits your project. Items where you don’t want the embroidery to be visible on the back, or where the location is too tricky for the machine are best suited for hand embroidery.
  • Placement – Initials can be added to cuffs, hems, or discreetly placed as a secret message.
  • Design style – Monograms, crests, your own illustrations, floral motifs, or dates.
  • Timeline – Stephie specialises in a quick turnaround. Smaller items such and name embroidery can be completed within a few days. Longer projects may require consultations over weeks or months.
